Hippocampal rhythmical slow activity during instrumental responses with sexual reinforcement in male rats.

چکیده
The hippocampal EEG activity was recorded in male rats during the response-contingent reinforcement of a female. The instrumental response was a bar-pressing on a fixed-ratio-10 reinforcement schedule. The frequency of bar-pressing tends to increase during the succeeding copulatory series. The similar phenomenon was observed in the frequency of the hippocampal slow activity (RSA) accompanying the bar-pressing and the pursuit of the female. This tendency was most conspicuously present during the first copulatory series but became less evident during the following ones.

The differences between simultaneously or separately tested instrumental sexual responses in rats.
The instrumental sexual responses were investigated in male and female rats in the following experimental situations: (1) when the instrumental responses were tested simultaneously in the male and the female (2) when the male was a subject and the female was used as a reward only, and (3) when the opposite was true. The analysis of the data indicated that if the instrumental responses were test...
متن کاملThe effect of medial amygdala lesions on instrumental sexual responses in male rats.
In male rats bar press responses reinforced by the contact with estrous females were established during the preoperative training. Bilateral electrolytic lesions of the medial amygdala nuclei caused an impairment of copulatory behavior manifested by the appearance, during male-female contacts, of exploratory behavior or body investigation instead of copulatory behavior. In all subjects such non...
متن کاملInstrumental conditioned reflexes with sexual reinforcement in rats.
The purpose of the present work was to elaborate a method of investigation of the instrumental CRs with sexual reinforcement. The examination of such reflexes in various experimental situations gives more precise information about sexual drive levels than simple observation of sexual behavior. Moreover, this is the only way for obtaining exact data concerning the changes in the drive level in f...
متن کاملP172: Study the Effect of Carbamazepine During the Epileptogenesis by Dorsal Hippocampal Kindling on Balance and Locomotor Activity in Adult Male Rats
Epilepsy is a chronic cerebral disorder associated with recurrently occurring seizures resulting from over activity of brain neurons. Since more than one percent of the world's population is suffering from epilepsy, this disease is recognized as one of the most important neurological disorders in modern medicine. Studies indicate that impairment in balance and motor activity are known as one of...
متن کاملPostnatal hippocampal granule cell agenesis in the rat: effects on two types of rhythmical slow activity (RSA) in two hippocampal generators.
Hippocampal slow wave activity was studied in rats which were normal or had been subjected to denate gyrus granule cell agenesis by focal X-irradiation starting at birth (0-day group) or two days (2-day group) of age. X-irradiation reduced adult brain weight, abolished most (2-day) or all (0-day) granule cells in the lower (endal) blade of the dentate gyrus, and reduced granule cell density by ...
